An overdue update

Hi friends,

It’s been a long 18 months since I last posted something here and I thought it was time to an update.

For those who are new here, here’s a little bit of background. In 2020 I wanted to start a podcast and talk about my faith. Except, I realized I needed more information. I wanted to do the podcast justice, I wanted to provide the listeners with something better and more informed than a half-baked discussion on what I believe. I wanted to a) make sure I knew what I believed and b) be able to defend my beliefs. I needed to know why I believe what I believe so I could explain it to my listeners.

Because I wanted to provide the best possible product in my podcast, I enrolled in the Applied Apologetics degree program through CCU. This brings us to 2021. I was deployed (I’m a pilot in the US Air Force) and participated in the evacuations out of Kabul, Afghanistan. I saw a lot of things during that time. Bottom line, I was angry. I was hurt. This post will not be the place I discuss those events, but here’s what you need to now. I came back from that deployment and had “acute anxiety” as a result of those events.

A few months later, my husband and I found out that we would be expecting our first child. All these events culminated in my failure to continue pursuing my degree. I stopped taking classes. It wasn’t the time to take classes, so I stopped.

Now, I sit here typing this today and I am halfway through my first class at Liberty University in pursuit of my Christian Apologetics Master’s degree (CCU stopped offering the Applied Apologetics degree). It is in this class a that it was recommended to me that a blog can help maintain personal accountability, and I felt like the textbook was speaking directly to me.

I want to follow through on what I believe is a call from God. I’m going to return to my podcast, eventually. Right now, I’m getting my Master’s degree and writing a Bible Study. This study will be available to a limited number of people as I hope for it to also become a community of women who want, like I did, to better understand what they believe, why they believe it, and how can they defend it. I want to offer a product that can be easily palatable in the small moments of the day, but that can also give reader’s a place to deep dive if they so desire.

So, if you’ve been following along and wondering where I’ve been - this is it. This is the update and you can expect to see more from me. I’ll be sharing what I learn in class, I’ll be sharing what I learn on my own, and I’ll be sharing my own faith journey. I hope you’ll join me.

As always, I am but a work in progress.

Cheers,

Kathryn
